あらすじ

2019年アメリカ映画。『バットマン』の悪役として有名なジョーカーの誕生物語。大都会ゴッサム・シティで道化師として暮らしていた一人の孤独な男アーサー・フレック。ピエロメイクの大道芸人として、病弱な母を支える心優しい面もあり、同じアパートに住むソフィーに好意を抱いている。どんな時も笑顔で人々を楽しませなさいと言う母の言葉通り、コメディアンを目指してドン底から抜け出そうとするアーサーが、なぜ巨大な悪のカリスマ『ジョーカー』へと変貌したのか。切なくも衝撃的真実の物語。「ジョーカー」はヴェネチア国際映画祭で金獅子賞を獲得。リヴァー・フェニックスの弟で、8歳で俳優デビューを飾ったホアキン・フェニックスは本作で「キャリア史上最高の演技」と称賛された。
